In early 2022 the origins of this project began with Hennepin County brainstorming on a youth focused project to create support for young diverse people involved in any number of social services within the county and community. This led to them applying for a grant that would provide supportive services that included recovery support. A member of the community, Jonathan Lofgren was contacted by the county for input. With his knowledge, connections, and passion he told them about CAARD, and TCRP. During a Leadership Summit in 2022 all the organizations were in attendance and as a result Hennepin County reached out to CAARD, YPR and TCRP which started the collaborative conversations which shaped this project. 

We are proud of the extensive relationships of this project, passionate staff and leaders, and community members who believe in the work we do. 

The goal of Recreation of Change is to build pathways in recovery supporting youth ages 14 - 24 with life affirming tools to navigate social, emotional, and economic challenges in everyday life. During our 8 week co-hort youth will be able to increase Academic Success, Increase Communication Skills, Engage in Prosocial Behaviors, and Increase Inhibition & Impulse Control. Together we are working to create a curriculum for this workshop, keep your eyes peeled on our website and social media for more details coming soon!
